Order of operations (BEDMAS) is something that has been studied in previous years (with integers in grade 7, and positive numbers in grade 5 & 6). The basic idea behind order of operations is that when you have multiple operations in the same question, there is a specific order that needs to be followed to ensure you find the correct solution.
BEDMAS means:
B - Brackets
E - Exponents
D / M - Division & Multiplication, whichever comes first when reading from left to right.
A / S - Addition & Subtraction, whichever comes first from left to right.
